Whats wrong with my laptop?

I can't open iMovie. I can open photobooth but doing so causes other application (especially iTunes) to freeze. Eventually photobooth freezes itself and I have to shutdown the computer. Its a week old macbook. i accidentally downloaded macGuard a couple days ago but have since removed it. I need these video programs since I make a lot of music videos. Thanks.
