Pericarditis recurrences?
Hi I really need an advice. I have had pericarditis for 5 months now and within that time I had 2 recurrences. So 3 times all together. It wasn't that intense, but it was pretty rough. My CRP was around 200 some times (214 most) and the stratification about 7mm. It hasn't affected the myocard at all, my troponins were good. The main problem are those recurrences. I am currently on a low dose of corticosteroids (prednisone, 10mg), but I started at 60 mg and within this 1.5 months it was slowly lowered to 10 mg. The steroids really help, they annihilate the infection in 3, 4 days... My question is: What can I do to somehow stop these recurrences? I am 17 years old. My doctors think that it's viral, but they dont know the cause, they diagnosed it as idiopathic. And also, can i smoke and drink while in this condition? I'm not talking about overdoing myself, just 1, 2 cigarettes.. :) The doctors weren't specific about anything, just not to exercise, or get myself tired.
